As we become familiar with our practice we can sometimes feel as if we are simply going through the motions. We will explore the secret of unleashing your pranic flow. Tap back into awareness as you approach the all important first section of practice with vigor.

Julie will be taking two afternoon workshops from 4 - 6pm on Saturday 12th July and Sunday 13th July. Each session costs £20
Contact Yogahaven, email info@yogahaven.co.uk or call 01273 329 642 to book.
Saturday 12th July 4-6pm
This workshop will begin with gentle warm ups, flowing Vinyasa sequences, followed by 'freedom of self exploration', a time for students to explore motion, go with the flow of bodily movement and make the practice their own. This will be a time for everyone to let go of structures, patterns and habits, freeing oneself from perceived limitations, expectations, whilst letting go of any inhibitions in physical movement.
The session will end with simple Pranayama and a led meditation.
Sunday 13th July 4-6pm
Many years ago the first and second series were practised as one whole, as they are a balance between forward bending and backbending. So whether or not you currently practise 2nd series, this workshop will be a great exploration into the way the 2nd Series works on the muscles, nervous and cardiovascular systems.
Here, we will be taking the first third of the Second series, exploring modifications, understanding alignment of the spine and learning how far we should proceed with the series according to our abilities. This workshop is suitable for any Ashtanga Vinyasa practitioner with at least one years' experience.
Julie Martin, Director of Brahmani Yoga in Goa, India, is an internationally recognized teacher of both Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Previously based in Brighton, she moved to Goa in2003 and helped set up Brahmani Yoga - now one of the leading yoga centres in Goa. Julie has now been teaching yoga for over 13 years and practicing for 20.
Starting her career as a professional dancer, Julie has always been fascinated with the workings of the body and how the relationships between the body, mind and spirit are inextricably linked. Following a dance related injury, she moved on to explore various forms of yoga and worked closely with a number of talented teachers. She studied intensively with Derek Ireland, Kristina Ireland, John Scott, Gingi Lee as well as Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharath Rangaswamy. She has also been influenced by Bryan Kest, Erich Schiffman and Shiva Rea.

The spine is of central importance in the practice of yoga. This workshop will combine a practical yoga class with an exploration of the anatomy of the spine. Using overhead projections and 3D models Chris will bring the anatomy to life making it directly relevant to yoga practice.
You will discover the causes back pain and ‘sciatica’, how a ‘slipped disc’ occurs, learn how yoga develops healthy discs and the relationship of the spine to the nervous system. You will understand how exactly the spine moves in backbends, twists and forward bends. We will also discuss how to avoid common back and neck strains.
Chris regularly teaches yoga anatomy throughout the country with over 25 years experience as a yoga teacher. As a registered osteopath he regularly treats yoga practitioners.
Cost: £25
