My own thoughts on this – it has no relevance to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

Yoga doesn’t need governing bodies or anyone to set it’s standards – in fact the idea of trying to control yoga is decidedly unyogic imho. We must all set our own standards and use our own good judgement.

It does highlight the potential conflict of interest in trying to run a business off the back of a spritual practice.

I’m not a teacher so I don’t have to jump through any hoops in order to practice or share my practice with others.
If I was a teacher though I wouldn’t place much value on a 200, 500 or 1000 hour training course with the British Wheel or Yoga Alliance, or having a little logo somewhere. Who knows tho, I may eat my hat at some point and sign up in order to teach!

At the risk of boring nearly everyone with one of my favourite quotes by Sri K Pattabhi Jois – “Practice and all is coming”. See you on the mat 😉
